I’m going to be decking myself out as a pirate this year, and one thing I wanted to be sure I had was a fancy as hell pirate hat. I was inspired by Marie Antoinette’s famous hairstyle where she wore a model ship in her hair.
After getting the ship and the hat in the mail, I made a trip to the craft store and the dollar store to get some feathers, fake flowers, and ribbon, and got to work attaching everything. I wound up having to hide a bundle of foil and wire on the side opposite the ship in an attempt to even out the weight. I also added some ribbon to the inside so I’ll hopefully be able to pin it in place when I actually wear it.
