Revamped Design: Euterpe – Muse of Song

Five-figure turnaround character design of Euterpe, Muse of Song. She is a Latina woman. Her hair is brown and red and styled in a fauxhawk. She's wearing a half skirt, shorts, denim vest, fishnets, and knee-high canvas sneakers. Old character sheet of Euterpe, Muse of Song. She is a latina woman with her hair styled in a fauxhawk. She is wearing tight pants, a half skirt, high heeled boots, and a leather motorcycle vest.

Euterpe’s new sheet is done and with that, all nine Muses have gotten a new sheet!  She mostly got a revamped outfit, although I did fix up her hair a bit, too.  I like her new outfit, I think it suits her much better than the old one.  I got to have fun with the patterns and filled out her figure a bit. This is definitely way closer to the Euterpe I see in my head when I picture her.

The rock and roll lean to her outfit is largely because it’s a style that I love, and because Euterpe only seemed to start cooperating with me when I started drawing her with a more rebellious style.  She was the last Muse I designed initially because every time I initially tried to lean more into opera costumes with her, it just didn’t work.  I had to start having fun and thinking about the music I love listening to, to really get her design.

My Euterpe is Latina because I associate music with my mom’s side of the family, the Latine side.  My grandfather was a Mariachi and could play just about any instrument, always teaching himself anything he could get his hands on.  One of my cousins is absolutely amazing at guitar and I brag about her at every opportunity.  Spanish guitar still makes me feel so, so nostalgic.
