Happy Pride Month! I wanted to do something asexual-related and I’ve been rewatching Bojack Horseman, so it felt obvious that I should do something with Todd. I love the show for a lot of reasons, Bojack and Diane’s struggles with depression really speak to me, for one.
But it means a lot to the asexual community that Todd got to go through his journey of realizing he was asexual. That asexuality was portrayed as real, and valid, and that those around him were supportive rather than trying to “fix” him. I loved seeing him find community and support with other aces, as it spoke true to my own experience. I hope there will be many more asexual characters in animation to come.
